Kashmir students to be barred from Govt jobs and booked under UAPA for Anti-India Sloganeering During Pak Match
The J&K Police has registered two FIRs against hostel wardens, management and students of two medical colleges in Srinagar where students created a ruckus and raised anti-India abusive slogans after Pakistan won the match against India in Dubai on Sunday.
Students are booked under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Two separate cases are registered in two separate incidents, one at the hostel of SKIMS hospital in Soura and another at the hostel in Government Medical College (GMC) in Karan Nagar, Srinagar.
Multiple videos of Government Medical College (GMC) and Sher E Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar had gone viral in which some students could be seen chanting slogans against India and in praise of Pakistan. The ruckus took place even as Home Minister Amit Shah was on his three-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir, the very first after the abrogation of Article 370 from the erstwhile state.
Students pursuing MBBS and other degrees residing in the hostel raised slogans, including ‘azadi’ slogans and burst crackers while celebrating India’s loss to Pakistan. The FIR is still open and the accused are yet to be identified, reports said.
Further, reports say that the students will also be barred from selection in government jobs.
After India’s loss to Pakistan, videos went viral on social media where purported students in these colleges were found celebrating, cheering and dancing joyfully.

Another video showed Kashmiri student singing the Pakistan national anthem on India’s loss.

Meanwhile, PDP (People’s Democratic Party) chief Mehbooba Mufti questioned what was wrong in Kashmiris celebrating India’s loss to Pakistan after all.
|
She even invoked the abrogation of Article 370 which removed the special status to erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir and removed riders attached to it as part of Union of India.
Social media has been filled with comments from across India by people outraged by the viral videos and demanding action by J&K Government and the Police against the medical students.
“Such doctors are a risk for humanity. How will they treat the soldiers posted in Kashmir only God knows!” said a female medical student from Government Medical College (GMC) in Jammu on condition of anonymity.
No arrests have yet been made in the case so far until this report was filed.
