In a case regarding child custody of 11-year-old Kanak, Court orders minor girl to be sent to Nari Niketan: Rajasthan
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj is an Indian journalist, documentary filmmaker, and men's rights activist. Bhardwaj rose to prominence after producing a documentary — Martyrs of Marriage (MoM), which covered abuse(s) of criminal section 498A (Anti-dowry law) by brides and their families.
She also exposed a conspiracy of alleged victims in the Rohtak sister's viral video controversy by interviewing the witnesses and collecting proof. She has produced and directed another documentary-- India's Sons—as well.
Today Deepika tweeted about a minor girl sent to Nari Niketan by court order. The tweet says, "11yr old Kanak from Jaipur who lost her father doesn't want to be with mother as she's remarried & stepfather ill-treats her. She wants to be with her grandfather but Court has sent her to Nari Niketan pending litigation. Hear her cries & plz intervene @KanoongoPriyank @NCPCR_"

She also presented a letter by Kanak detailing about her plight.

She also asked Preeti Bhardwaj Dalal (Vice-Chairperson, Haryana State Commission for Women) to talk to authorities in Nari Niketan, Jaipur, and get the testimony of the child recorded and restore her back to where she is happy.

What is Nari Niketan Trust
Nari Niketan Trust runs an orphanage that facilitates both national and inter-country adoptions and is a home for abandoned children in Jalandhar, Punjab. It also runs a school for underprivileged children, arranges vocational training courses, and manages Childline, an initiative for children in distress.
"The history of mankind has been the history of riches for a select few and misery for the majority. Even after the movements for the upliftment of the status of women, we still hear of abandoned and destitute women and unwanted and abandoned children. Nari Niketan's contribution to providing refuge to these women and children has been unparalleled. Besides giving shelter, security, and refuge, Nari Niketan has provided the means to improve quality of life through education and vocational training. As responsible members of society, we also have an obligation towards these causes. By supporting institutions like Nari Niketan, we can better serve humanity."
One of the primary aims of the Nari Niketan Trust is to end female feticide. We appeal to all those who cannot care for their children to bring them to Nari Niketan, so that they may find a loving family and a promising future.
