"Saifuddin traps girls to perform mujra in Arab countries": A Hindu woman from Lucknow coerced into marriage, conversion; faces dowry harassment and a forced abortion in Mumbai; a Congress leader from Bidar implicated in an expansive abuse network
In a disturbing revelation, a Hindu woman from Lucknow has come forward with severe allegations against her Muslim husband, claiming that she was manipulated and coerced into marrying him following a traumatic ordeal of sexual abuse. According to her account, the marriage occurred after she was compelled to convert to Islam under distressing circumstances. She also recounted a harrowing episode where she was deceived into terminating her five-month-old pregnancy at a hospital in Mumbai. The relationship between the woman and the accused, identified as Saifuddin from Karnataka, began in Bahrain, where she had been employed for nearly seven years.

In addition to Saifuddin, his former fiancée and several of his family members have been implicated in this case. The charges against them include harassment for dowry and enforcing a religious conversion from Hindu to Muslim, among other offenses. The complexity of the case deepens with the involvement of other individuals; a total of six people were named in the original complaint filed on May 13th, alongside several unidentified persons, further complicating the legal proceedings.
The situation escalated when the woman alleged a broader conspiracy, terming it 'love jihad,' a term used in India to refer to pattern of Jihadi Muslim men targeting Hindu women for conversion to Islam through marriage. She also made a shocking claim that a leader from the Congress party is intricately linked with this network, suggesting a wider political and social entanglement.
The complexities of the case against Saifuddin continue to unravel as the victim details her harrowing experiences in her complaint. She recalls her time in Bahrain, where she initially met Saifuddin while she was employed. Their relationship took a dark turn when, according to her, "One day, he raped me in Bahrain, and I lodged a rape complaint there." During the investigation of this complaint, she faced immense pressure from Saifuddin and his family, leading her to make profound life changes under duress. She revealed that after becoming pregnant as a result of the assault, she was coerced by Saifuddin and his family to withdraw her complaint. The coercion did not end with the withdrawal of the complaint; she was also pressured to convert to Islam, a decision that starkly contrasts her Hindu upbringing.
The victim's ordeal escalated on February 13, 2024, when she was married off to Saifuddin under Islamic rites, a marriage she claims was against her will. The narrative takes a further grim turn as she describes being lured to Mumbai under the pretense of receiving medical care. Unbeknownst to her, the actual plan was to abort her five-month-old fetus. "Saifuddin tricked me into visiting Mumbai for a medical consultation, and I was admitted to a hospital where the doctors secretly aborted the five-month-old fetus," she alleged. This action, she claims, was orchestrated without her consent, adding a layer of medical betrayal to her list of grievances.
After the abortion, the victim was not returned to her home but was instead taken to Saifuddin's residence in Bidar, Karnataka. There, she faced further torment at the hands of Saifuddin's fiancée, Monika, his elder brother, and other family members who subjected her to both mental and physical torture.
The victim, hailing from Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh, has since taken her fight for justice to her home state, filing a detailed report at the Gudamba police station in Lucknow.

The woman, emboldened by her quest for justice, has now taken her disturbing story to the media, detailing the psychological manipulation and abuse she endured at the hands of Saifuddin. In an interview with ABP News, she explained how their initial professional relationship evolved into a nightmare. "He began courting her after they talked for a few days. He used to drink alcohol by mixing pills in it and claimed that he was very upset with his family members. He claimed he has personal problems and gradually began to persuade her to marry him," she recounted, highlighting the gradual build-up of trust before the subsequent betrayal.
Her ordeal intensified when Saifuddin drugged her. "One day he gave her a sedative and sexually violated her. He also recorded her explicit video and used it to blackmail her," she disclosed, revealing the depths of his manipulation. This traumatic experience was leveraged against her, trapping her further under his control.
The woman also shed light on Saifuddin’s alleged broader criminal activities which involve the exploitation of vulnerable women. According to her, "Saifuddin’s profession is to trap girls in his net by emotionally blackmailing them. The females are from states like Mumbai, Delhi and Gujarat." She detailed how these women are lured with promises of employment in beauty parlors among other supposed benefits, only to find themselves ensnared in a much darker reality. Ultimately, these women are trafficked to the Gulf countries, where they are forced into performing 'mujra'—a form of dance usually associated with entertainment venues.
In her detailed account, she mentioned knowing several girls who are currently working in various bars across Bahrain, indicating the scale and international reach of the operation. Adding another layer to the accusations, she revealed a political connection to the alleged crimes. "Meanwhile, she mentioned that there is a Congress party leader in Bidar who is a relative of Saifuddin. He is also charged with assaulting and attempting to rape her," she stated, implicating a prominent political figure in the ongoing saga of her abuse.
According to the victim's formal complaint, the abuse was not only perpetrated by Saifuddin but also involved his brother Sabiruddin and three other individuals. Moreover, it included a member of his own family, his sister, who, along with the others, is accused of both physical and mental torment towards the victim.
The complaint further elaborates on other individuals implicated in her suffering, including Saifuddin’s 'girlfriend' Monika, who along with some others, played a role in the victim's harrowing experience. This indicates a broader network of individuals who allegedly supported or participated in the abuse and manipulation of the victim.
Following these allegations, legal action has been initiated. Afterwards, a First Information Report was registered against Saifuddin, his 4 brothers, sister, and Monika under 498A, 323, and 313 of the Indian Penal Code," the victim disclosed. These sections of the Indian Penal Code pertain to cruelty by a husband or his relatives, voluntarily causing hurt, and causing miscarriage without the woman’s consent, respectively, underscoring the severity of the accusations against Saifuddin and his associates.
OpIndia, a local news outlet, has obtained a copy of the FIR, further validating the registration of the case and providing a basis for the legal proceedings that are set to follow. This FIR not only serves as a formal documentation of the allegations but also marks the beginning of what could be a lengthy legal battle to address the serious charges laid out by the victim.
