"बम्बू कथा": Ata ur Rehman arrested for molesting a woman and issuing death threats; seen limping with police support upon release; concurrently, in Muzaffarnagar, Salman, after following a woman with acid, is also arrested only to coming out limping
In a disturbing occurrence in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh, a woman faced molestation and was subsequently threatened with death. The accused, Ata ur Rehman, has been taken into custody by the police. The incident happened on Saturday, June 8th, and has captured significant attention due to two videos circulating on social media that depict the incident.

In the first video, Ata ur Rehman is seen dressed in traditional Islamic attire, including a netted skull cap, approaching the woman. The second video provides a stark contrast, showing Rehman limping and needing to take support from the shoulders of police personnel as he moves, indicating some form of physical altercation or distress during or prior to his arrest.
The event was reported in the Kotwali Gajraula area of Amroha district. The complaint, filed by the victim's husband on Saturday, detailed that his wife was on her way to buy milk at around 5:30 AM when an unknown man approached her from behind. This man, later identified as Rehman, stopped her and committed the act of molestation. When she resisted, Rehman not only threatened her life but also hurled abuses. Her attempts to alert others led to Rehman fleeing the scene, all the while issuing further threats.
The local police are thoroughly investigating, with the videos being a crucial part of the evidence that showcases both the confrontation and Rehman's subsequent condition during his arrest.
The complainant, employed at a local factory, has urgently called for decisive legal action against the perpetrator initially described as an unknown assailant. In response, the police filed a First Information Report (FIR) under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), specifically sections 341 for wrongful restraint, 323 for voluntarily causing hurt, 504 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and 506 for criminal intimidation. This comprehensive legal approach underscores the severity of the incident.

During a meticulous investigation by the police, the individual responsible was identified as Ata ur Rehman, residing in Gajraula. Following his identification, the authorities promptly arrested him. One of the two widely circulated videos on social media notably captures Rehman hurriedly advancing towards the woman, providing critical visual evidence that supported his identification and the subsequent arrest.
Local media reports have highlighted the victim's brave attempt to protect herself during the ordeal. She vocally resisted, her loud calls for help drawing the attention of passersby, which eventually led to a crowd gathering at the scene. Despite her efforts to fend off his advances and the gathering crowd, Rehman managed to flee the scene, escaping immediate capture.
However, after the incident was reported, the police swiftly took action by formally registering the victim's complaint and initiating a search for Ataur Rahman. In a turn of events that highlighted the effectiveness of the police's response, a video soon surfaced online showing UP police officers holding Rahman in their custody. The arrest was made on the grounds of Rahman blocking the woman's path and behaving indecently with her in Amroha, confirming the seriousness of the allegations against him.
In a second video that garnered significant attention, Ata ur Rehman is visibly impaired, limping and depending heavily on the support of police personnel to assist him in walking out of the police station. This footage provides a stark contrast to the earlier aggressive demeanor portrayed by Rahman, illustrating his changed circumstances following the intervention by law enforcement.
The police are actively investigating the case, continuing their efforts to gather all pertinent information and taking the necessary actions to address this serious violation of law and personal safety. This comprehensive approach by the authorities aims to not only bring justice to the victim but also to deter similar incidents in the future.

Similar incident in UP
In another troubling event from Uttar Pradesh, a similar scare emerged from Muzaffarnagar, painting a concerning picture of safety in less populated areas. A Muslim man, identified as Salman, was reported to have followed a woman while on his bike and was allegedly in possession of acid, adding a grave element of potential harm to the encounter.
The situation escalated when the woman, feeling threatened and vulnerable, sought refuge by approaching the nearest police station. Her proactive steps towards ensuring her safety led to immediate police action. Salman was promptly taken into police custody, demonstrating the responsiveness of the local law enforcement to such serious allegations.
The incident unfolded while the woman was simply out on the road to purchase milk. It was during this routine activity that she encountered Salman in a less-crowded lane, where he reportedly approached her and inappropriately touched her hips. This invasion of personal space in a seemingly safe, everyday setting highlights the unpredictable nature of such threats and the fear they instill in community members, especially women.
The police's quick intervention in this case reflects their commitment to addressing such violations and ensuring the safety of the public. The ongoing investigations in these cases are crucial for not only providing justice to the victims but also reinforcing the preventive measures against such alarming incidents in the future.
