"Homeland is something one becomes aware of only through its loss": Shocking! American tourist racially abuses Indian in Poland asking why are your people invading our homelands, calling him 'paras!te, !nvader, and a genoc!de', and asking him to "go home"
With recent incidents of racist attacks against Indians living abroad coming to light, a new undated video has surfaced where an Indian man is seen subjected to racist hate from a man who identified himself as an American in the video.
The back-to-back hate incidents against Indians in foreign countries are alarming as over lakhs of Indians have moved abroad for their academic, employment, or other purposes. In the recent addition to such revelations, an unidentified Indian in Poland was approached by an American, who went on to name-calling the Indian as a "parasite", "genocider", "tech support", and so on.
It is not clear as to when the incident occurred or if a case has been filed against the same. However, the helplessness of the Indian who was being filmed was clear and spoke volumes about the hate that several non-residential Indians face abroad.

Hindu organizations in the United States are warning of a rise in hate crimes against the community, following a string of attacks involving communal and physical abuse.
Irony of a Tourist asking a stranger to "go back to your homeland"
Visuals of the purported attack were posted by a Twitter user who said, "He's from America but is in Poland because he's a white man, which makes him think he has the right to police immigrants in "his homeland". Repulsive behavior, hopefully, he is recognized".
As per the video posted and the comments from several users, the incident allegedly took place outside the Atrium Reduta Shopping Centre in Poland's capital city Warsaw. In the four-minute recording, the man who identified himself as an American was seen approaching the Indian man and calling him names unprovoked. The unidentified Indian man was seen asking why he was being filmed and kindly asked the man to stop recording him without his consent.
However, the man continued to harass him and ask several racially-motivated insensitive questions. He says that he has the right to film the Indian as it was his country and instead asks him, "Why are you in Poland? In America, there are too many of you guys. Do you think you can invade Poland? Why don't you return to your own country?".
At this point, the Indian person can be heard asking the person to stop recording once again as the American continues to swear at him. Following him around asking why he needed to be in a white man's land when he had India, he continued to badger him with a series of racist questions. "Europeans want to know why you think you have the right to invade our country. Why are your people invading our homelands?" was among the questions that were repeated over and again.
A report by News18 observed how he then went on to allege that Indians are living off the hard work done by the white men and asked the Indian man to be ashamed of the same. Adding to the same, he said, "Poland for Polish. You're not Polish", and continued to call him a genocide of the white race, a parasite, and an invader.
Throughout the video, the Indian can be seen visibly uncomfortable with the racial hate he was being subjected to and did not protest despite the many fits of abuse hurled his way. Many Twitter users also commented on the restraint of the Indian while being constantly abused.

A few comments also reflected on how nobody was defending the man. The incident had occurred in broad daylight, with several passers-by seen moving about with their day as this American continued to harass the Indian.
Krishnan Jayaraman incident
Meanwhile, earlier an Indian-American man had to face a slew of racist slurs and anti-Hindu remarks in the US state of California.

Krishnan Jayaraman was verbally attacked by California man Tejinder Singh in the Taco Bell in Fremont on August 21, US media reports said.
The long video recording shows a portion of the interaction between Tejinder and Jayaraman where the former can be seen and heard directing religious slurs and derogatory comments to the person holding the camera.
"Walking around with your f**king toes out. B**ch, this isn't India. You f**ked India up," Tejinder, 37, says in the video. "You disgusting with your H-1B visa. ...Nobody comes in the public like this, you dirty Hindu," he continued in his vile
This incident follows an American woman who was arrested in the US state of Texas after a video of her racially abusing and assaulting Indian-American women went viral on social media.
The incident took place in Dallas.
The attacker, who claims to be a Mexican born in the US, is seen asking a group of Indian-American women to "go back to India".
Indian American bodies on Friday condemned the hate crime against a group of four Indian Americans in Texas.
Esmeralda Upton from Plano in Texas was arrested for the racially-motivated physical and verbal assault of four South Asian women in a parking lot on Wednesday.

"The recent news of four Indian-origin women being harassed and abused with vile racial slurs in Plano, TX, has sent shock waves through the Indian-American community," said Sanjeev Joshipura from Indiaspora.
"The viral video captures the unreal encounter of four friends facing a tirade in a suburban parking lot, following their quiet dinner meet-up. We at Indiaspora strongly condemn this racial attack and reiterate our commitment to fighting discrimination and prejudice in all its forms," he said.

The attack is yet another in a string of deplorable anti-Asian hate crimes that have taken place over the past two years and comes on the heels of a similar incident involving first India- American woman in Congress, Pramila Jaya, said Indian American Impact.
Data on crimes against Hindus is still in a nascent stage, says community leader, though Hindu-phobic rhetoric in traditional and social media has seen an exponential spike.

Where is all the rage coming from?
Many Americans never quite recovered from the Great Recession, Sheth notes. After the housing bubble burst in 2007, they watched the value of their house decline along with their retirement account and their own economic value in the labour force.
A number of recent studies have found that there are a lot of frustrated, middle-aged White people like Purinton out there. A quarter of White men with only a high school diploma are now no longer working, and many aren’t even trying to find work, according to federal data.
This frustration has had consequences, the kind you can see etched in the face of Purinton, who though only 51, looks at least 10 years older. From 1978 to 1998, the mortality rate of US Whites fell by 2 per cent a year, according to a 2015 Princeton study. After that, death rates have begun to rise by 0.5 percent a year, even as other countries’ death rates continue to fall. The causes tended to be suicide or related to alcohol and drug abuse.
Professor Sheth believes this present wave of hostility against Indians will pass once the US economy picks up steam and both the stock market and the home market boom. “The negative impact on people’s desire to come to America due to current hostility will be only temporary,” he predicts. “I think the United States will be always attractive to immigrants,” he adds. “It is because it has structural flexibility to adjust and it is a great place to put your roots for the children and the grandchildren”.
