On Tuesday, August 6, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed the prevailing situation in Bangladesh during his address to the Parliament. He initiated his remarks in the Rajya Sabha, highlighting a broad concern shared across India's political landscape regarding the violence and instability that has erupted in the neighboring nation.

In a revealing statement that underscores a significant shift in his family's political engagement, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, declared that his mother has decided to permanently step back from the political arena. Speaking to a British public service broadcaster's Newshour program, Joy conveyed that the decision comes after a period of intense dissatisfaction and disappointment with the political upheaval she faced, despite her dedicated efforts to improve the nation. "She is deeply disappointed by the uprising against her leadership despite her efforts for the betterment of Bangladesh," Dhaka Tribune quoted Joy as stating.

On 4th August (local time), Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, issued a statement condemning the violence that erupted across the country, creating chaos. He said, “I utterly condemn the far-right thuggery we have seen this weekend,” blaming the protesting groups and individuals against immigrants for the violence. He made it clear that those involved in the violence would face the full force of the law. However, there have been reports that the government’s action is going to be selective.

In a tragic incident, a young Indian student lost his life in Australia due to a violent altercation. Navjeet Sandhu, a 22-year-old MTech student from India, was fatally stabbed amid a dispute. The incident involved several other Indian students and occurred during a disagreement over rent payments.
