Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, built at a cost of around Rs 339 crore. In his official capacity, the Prime Minister traveled to Kashi, performed a puja and several other religious ceremonies, including a dip in the Ganga. This was all telecast live on state owned Doordarshan, as well as shared on all platforms by social media platforms of the government.

Earlier this month, Bajrang Dal, an activist group championing the cause of Hindus organised a peaceful rally in Haryana’s Mewat region, to mark their protest against the continuous atrocities faced by Hindus from miscreants allegedly belonging to the Muslim majority of Mewat, a region known as “Mini Pakistan” because of the prevalence of abductions, rapes, forced conversions and murders of the minority Hindus.

On the 24th of December, one Meer Faisal, multimedia journalist with Islamist outfit Maktoob Media, took to Twitter to post a host of videos about a Bajrang Dal rally in Mewat to fear monger about Hindus outfits trying to create a “communal divide” between Hindus and Muslims of the area. After the videos, he shared an article of Maktoob Media that essentially said that Muslims of Mewat, popularly known as Mini Pakistan because of the rapes, abductions, Jihadi violence and forced conversions of Hindu women, were living in eternal fear of Hindu outfits.

The Right-Left binary that originated in the times of the French Revolution when liberal deputies of the Third Estate would generally sit to the left of the presiding officer’s chair while the nobility (the Second Estate) would sit to the right, in a custom that began in the Estates General in 1789, has become the premise of delineating party politics and ideology the world over.

A day after speeches of leaders like Yati Narsinghanand and other Hindu leaders went viral, an FIR has been filed in Uttarakhand over the speeches that called upon Hindus to collect arms. The speeches were deemed as provocative and social media was rife with Leftists and Islamists claiming that the speeches called for a Muslim genocide.

On December 20, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, issued two orders banning two websites and twenty YouTube channels that were feeding propaganda content on the behest of Pakistan. As per the December 21 press release about the order, these websites and channels were part of Pakistan’s coordinated disinformation campaign against India.
