Germany: Kosovar chops up Ukrainian woman with axe

There is, of course, domestic violence in all cultures. So to post this is just “Islamophobic,” right? Wrong: there is domestic violence in all cultures, but only in one does it have divine sanction. Islam doesn’t teach that man may kill his wife or girlfriend, but once you’ve allowed him to beat her, accidents will happen.

“Bloody deed in Lichtenberg: man kills woman with axe, police shoot perpetrator,” translated from “Bluttat in Lichtenberg: Mann erschlägt Frau mit Axt, Polizei erschießt Täter,” by Katrin Bischoff, Carola Tunk and Christian Gehrke, Berliner Zeitung, September 4, 2022 (thanks to Medforth):

Bloody deed in the Friedrichsfelde district of Lichtenberg: On Sunday morning, a 23-year-old man hit a 27-year-old woman with an ax in an apartment on Löwenberger Strasse. The police shot the man. Any help came too late for the woman, too.

Around 7:40 a.m., neighbors heard the horrible screams of a woman inside the apartment building. They dialed 911 for the police. The police initially announced via Twitter that they had been alerted at 7:50 a.m.

Murder in Lichtenberg: motive still unclear

When officers entered the ninth-floor apartment, they saw a horrifying sight. "There, a man was hitting a woman with an axe," said police spokesman Stefan Petersen-Schümann on Sunday afternoon in front of the ten-storey building where the crime happened. The police then used firearms, killing the man with the axe.

The victim could not be helped either, the woman died at the scene of her serious injuries. The 4th Murder Commission took up the investigation. Federal police officers were brought in because they had the equipment to determine identities, it said.

According to initial findings, the woman killed is a Ukrainian. The perpetrator comes from Kosovo. Both were not married and were not registered in the one-room apartment, it said. The police were initially unable to say what the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim was.

Police: Investigations continue on Monday

The homicide investigations continue on Monday morning. It is still unclear why the man killed the woman. "We have to wait. The Berlin public prosecutor's office will probably continue the case," said a police spokesman.

In the prefab building with two staircases from the 1960s near Frankfurter Allee there are a total of around 400 one- and two-room apartments. The rents are cheap. A tenant reports that roaring can often be heard in the building.

A young man who lives in the vicinity of the crime apartment says that he heard loud screaming at around 7 a.m. in the morning. Someone, apparently the man who was shot later, hammered on his apartment door. The witness says that his door was damaged as a result. The neighbor reports that he did not dare to open the door. Later he saw large traces of blood on his apartment door. A video he took shows blood splattered on the linoleum in front of his door and a larger bloodstain near the spy hole.

In the apartment where the crime occurred, the windows of which overlook a playground at the back, the police photographer's flashlight could still be seen hours after the bloody event. At around 1 p.m., the coroner arrived at the ten-story building to collect the bodies. They should be autopsied.

A gas and water plumber had also been called to the house in the morning. Unknown persons had unscrewed a heating valve on the tenth floor – i.e. above the crime apartment. Four screws had been loosened for this purpose, it said. Water poured into the basement, the power from the elevator had to be turned off. The police could not say whether there was a connection to the bloody deed.

GdP: The question of using a Taser is not fair

The police union (GdP) reacted shocked to the incident on Monday morning. GdP spokesman Benjamin Jendro said: "No police officer likes to shoot, but the cruel operation yesterday morning shows the life-threatening exceptional situations in which our colleagues find themselves and that there are unfortunately always scenarios in which the gun remains the only means. We hope that the forces involved will be able to process the events in the best possible way.”

The question of whether a taser would have changed anything at the exit is purely speculative and not fair to the emergency services because they did not have this opportunity, Jendro said. “We need it across the board because it can be used to de-escalate in many scenarios. But if someone hits a person with an axe, we are long past that point.”

The Qur’an teaches that:

Men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34

Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?’” — Sahih Muslim 2127

An another hadith states: “Rifa`a divorced his wife whereupon `AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. `Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came, `Aisha said, "I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!" When `AbdurRahman heard that his wife had gone to the Prophet, he came with his two sons from another wife. She said, "By Allah! I have done no wrong to him but he is impotent and is as useless to me as this," holding and showing the fringe of her garment, `Abdur-Rahman said, "By Allah, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! She has told a lie! I am very strong and can satisfy her but she is disobedient and wants to go back to Rifa`a." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, to her, "If that is your intention, then know that it is unlawful for you to remarry Rifa`a unless `Abdur-Rahman has had sexual intercourse with you." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) saw two boys with `Abdur- Rahman and asked (him), "Are these your sons?" On that `AbdurRahman said, "Yes." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You claim what you claim (i.e.. that he is impotent)? But by Allah, these boys resemble him as a crow resembles a crow,'" — Sahih Bukhari 7.77.5825
