"Truth is often stranger than fiction": Imagine finding a Shivling in every mosque's fountain!" Maulana Tauqeer Raza muses, stoking controversy over the Gyanvapi structure. Is it truth or clever wordplay? History meets sarcasm in this religious saga
Well, folks, it seems Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, the head of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC), has discovered a new world wonder – a ‘Shivling’ in every major mosque in India! Or so he claims. His intriguing revelation comes as he discusses the disputed Gyanvapi structure in Varanasi. "Every mosque in India has such a Shivling, pardon me, I meant a fountain," he says. Confusion between a Shivling and a fountain, Maulana? Seriously? Now that's what I call a mix-up!
|
On the bustling day of August 4, 2023, this captivating spectacle unfolded. It was a day that saw the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) launch their investigation into the debated Gyanvapi structure, strictly following the instructions of the high and mighty Allahabad High Court, nestled in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Yes, the same court that shrugged off the plea from the Muslim side objecting to the survey.
Now, the drama's heating up! The Muslim side, far from accepting the defeat gracefully, is now scurrying to knock on the Supreme Court's doors. Meanwhile, the Hindu side is popping the champagne, celebrating this latest High Court ruling. But amidst the cacophony, our dear IMC president, Maulana Tauqeer Raza, thought it would be the perfect time to stir the pot a little more, boldly asserting that every large mosque has a fountain, which he casually refers to as a Shivling.
Maulana, seriously? Is this a game of "find the Shivling" or what? He added, "The High Court made a decision based on its understanding, but the Anjuman is not having it. They've decided to take it up with the Supreme Court."
Well, it seems the Maulana is placing all his bets on the Supreme Court. And why wouldn't he? After all, he firmly believes that the Shivling inside the wazu tank is commonplace in every major mosque in India. So, for all you folks out there who weren't aware, now you know – the reason for the Shivling in every mosque, according to Maulana, is simply because of the existence of a fountain. Quite an enlightenment, isn't it?
|
The Maulana, a never-ending source of surprises, didn't stop there. He went on to say, "This is an attempt to forcibly capture it and spread riots." Here, we have to give it to him for his impressive attempt to paint a vivid, albeit imaginary, picture of forceful capturing and riots. It's almost as if he's penning the script for a thrilling drama. But who's he hoping will play the villain in his tale, I wonder?
Meanwhile, a team from the ASI made their grand entrance at the Gyanvapi structure premises, adjacent to the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi. They kicked off a scientific survey of the complex under tight security, ensuring no one would disturb the thrilling story unfolding.
|
In this unfolding saga, we hear from Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, the advocate who's championing the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case. He confirms that the survey has begun, and even he and his team are venturing inside the disputed structure. I suppose it's time for them to play detective, then!
But let's not forget the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, the ones who challenged the Varanasi District Judge’s order on July 21, despite their plea being dismissed by the Allahabad High Court. Yes, the same order that resulted from an application by four Hindu women on May 16, 2023.
The drama is getting juicier by the day, as the district judge even excluded the Wuzu Khana (the ablution pond area) of the complex from the order. It seems like there are surprises at every corner! The Allahabad High Court had earlier asked the ASI to refrain from starting the survey, given that the Supreme Court had paused the detailed survey till 5 pm on July 26.

So, as we gear up for the next episode of this thrilling saga, one can't help but wonder: when will we see the end of the ‘Shivling in the mosque’ mystery? Only time will tell. Stay tuned, folks!
